11:46am October 17th 2018,, Vladislav performed an attack on his college,, Kerch Polytechnic College,, involving his 12 gauge pump action shotgun he had bought himself along with 2 nail bombs,, several pipebombs,, a molotov cocktail and a knife in his left boot. He wore a white t-shirt showing the word "nenavist" which translates to hatred,, black pants,, a glove over his trigger hand,, and combat boots. Vladislav entered the school through a separate entrance to avoid metal detectors. Upon entering he set off an explosive in the schools canteen. From there he continued upstairs to the second floor,, going into the office. Once he saw the office was empty,, he began shooting at other students and teachers,, locked doors,, computers and fire extinguishers. The shooting was determined to have taken 5-20 minutes,, however when Vlad was found,, he had taken a bullet to the head in the school library. A total of 20 people died and over 70 were left injured,, some in critical condition. Upon Vlads mother discovering her son was the perpetrator,, she attempted to take her own life.


Vlads motive was never determined,, though it was very apparent he was suicidal. in 2016 he stopped using his personal accounts but continued to roam online. In that time,, he lurked in forums dedicated to serial killers and often researched about mass killings,, bombs and ISIS attacks-which are banned in Russia. Vlad also took interest in Ukrainian neo-nazi groups online and posted swastikas frequently,, along with Columbine. It became apparent that he was isolating himself nearing his eventual end as he didnt try to make very many friends or interact with people and felt he had very different,, nihilistic views compared to everyone at his college and online. This often led to him feeling as if people were ridicluing him. Various leaked chats with Vlad demonstrate his feelings on making friends and suicide. Supposedly before his attack,, he took his personal belongings to a place near his home and burned them,, in hopes people would eventually forget his existence and interests along with it.
Vladislav was often referred to as Vladik by his family growing up. He lived with his paternal grandparents,, his father Igor and mother Galina. Igor was an abusive alcoholic due to brain damage he recieved after having returned from being a soldier in Afghanistan and often harmed Galina and Vlad and on some occasions,, his own parents. At age 10, Vlads parents divorced and Vlad moved on to live with his mother,, maintaining little to no contact with his father. Vlad was a trouble maker when he was younger,, many neighbors reported seeing him harm kittens and neighborhood cats often went missing after time. Galina dismissed it as normal childs play. Soon after divorcing Igor,, Galina join the Jehovahs Witness "cult" and often forced her ideals on Vlad. While it was overwhelming and he often recieved punishments for his teenage behavior,, Vlad remained very close with his mother seeing that she was simply doing her best to take care of him. At the same time he would often make fun of her with his friends. Galina often restricted Vlad from watching movies at school and computer usage,, however when he was 16 a teacher recommended his mother that she get him a computer,, in which she did hoping he would change his behavior; he did not. Vlad found himself getting into punk rock and other interests alike. During this time he took interest in sports and hung out with much older sportsmen. Vlad obtained a scholarship for Kerch Polytechnic and soon started attending due to his mothers demands. In college,, Vlads family and peers described him as antisocial and withdrawn. His grandmother stated that he was very kind,, but very kept to himself. Vlad began adopting aggressive behavior and explored harsher feelings towards his classmates from cause of their supposed bullying. Vlad often expressed his hatred and wanting of revenge to friends and his ex-girlfriend. Leading up to the massacre,, he was very reserved and did not care much for relationships.
